Why You Will Love This Chicken Alfredo Casserole
This simple recipe does not need those canned soups or sauces. You can control what goes into this dish with just an extra step or two.
Furthermore, like us, you probably grab one of those $5 chickens from Sam’s or Costco, eat a bit, and have some leftovers. This dish is perfect for using that leftover chicken and getting an extra meal from that reasonable purchase.

But the most important reason you will love this is its deliciousness. That creamy alfredo sauce, married with good pasta and hearty chicken, makes a great meal that everyone is going to love. Plus, it’s easy to prepare and is great for any meal for your family or for your company.
A great meal that doesn’t use crazy ingredients or cost a ton of money is a win in my book every time.

How To Make Chicken Alfredo Casserole

Once you try this Chicken Alfredo Casserole, it’s sure to become a go-to favorite—quick, easy, and absolutely delicious!
Tips
Use Fresh Ingredients: While pre-cooked chicken is convenient, using freshly grilled or baked chicken can elevate the flavor.
Cook Pasta Al Dente: The pasta will continue cooking in the oven, so ensure it’s slightly undercooked before mixing it with the sauce.
Custom Browning: Broiling the casserole for a few minutes gives it a lovely golden top, adding both flavor and presentation.
Make it Ahead: This dish can be prepared a day in advance and refrigerated. Simply bake it when you’re ready to serve.
Variations
Vegetarian Option: Replace chicken with sautéed mushrooms, broccoli, or spinach for a veggie-friendly version.
Add Protein: Stir in crispy bacon or diced ham for an extra savory twist.
Cheese Swap: Try Gruyere or Fontina for a different cheesy flavor profile.
Spicy Kick: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños to the sauce for a touch of heat.
FAQs
Yes! Assemble the casserole without baking, wrap it tightly with plastic wrap and aluminum foil, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before baking.
Absolutely! Fusilli, rigatoni, or farfalle work just as well as penne (we used rigatoni for ours). Choose a sturdy pasta that holds the sauce well.
Half-and-half or whole milk can work in a pinch, but the sauce may be slightly less creamy.
Make sure to whisk the cheese into the sauce off the heat or at very low heat to prevent clumping.
